Job description

Together, we are on a purpose-driven journey to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the world through our work in cracking biology. Our mission? Make fruit & vegetables available and affordable to more people in a sustainable way. We work with the best and biggest greenhouse growers in the world. As we deeply value the work growers do, we help them by offering AI products that give them superpowers. Our commitment to the grower's satisfaction fuels our drive for excellence.

As the Lead Engineer for one of our AI product teams, you'll be wearing many hats and should feel comfortable switching between different aspects of engineering (backend, data, ML engineering & some frontend), architecture, planning and leading your team.

You will translate the company and product vision and roadmap into robust, scalable and secure SaaS products, together with your team. You do this by collaborating closely with the Product Manager to translate the product roadmap to a technical delivery roadmap. You will lead your team in defining the architecture and setting the technical direction of the products you’re responsible for, ensuring fast-paced delivery and adherence to timelines agreed upon with stakeholders and setting and maintaining technical quality through coding standards and rigorous QA procedures. You will make trade-offs that balance the long-term stability, performance and robustness of the product with the team's on-time delivery of new features.

You will also collaborate closely with the Lead Data Scientist and their team of data scientists to drive productisation of AI models.
You are not afraid to get into the trenches together with your team to solve tough problems and resolve precarious incidents by being hands-on.

As Lead Engineer you are responsible for building a high performing team by leading, managing and coaching this team. You do this by setting clear expectations on outcomes for your team, monitoring progress on delivery of results and consistently giving clear and actionable feedback.

You identify risks to the roadmap and take mitigating actions in time. You ensure that risks to delivery, scalability, robustness or security are communicated in a timely manner to the VP of Engineering.

Lastly, you will closely work with the VP of Engineering to design and create ground-breaking technology. You will be able to do this by defining the technical roadmap and architectural vision for one of the AI products and translating these into a technical roadmap and architecture for your team.
